First i have to say, that i love the cover artwork. No matter if you like that kind of style  or not, it shows so perfectly which kind of music you can expect on this release, that it was definetly worth to ask Mike Cortado to do the design job.

Let`s start with In One Piece. These four guys come from Malmi/Finland and i know just few of them but they seem to be good ones as their "skate edge" attuĂtude brings a smile to my face.
Both songs are in the vein of 90s hardcore, fast and passionate. The fact that Chokehold are quoted in one of the songs just reveals that this band has ambitions beyond boring stereotypes and although they don`t reinvent the wheel, these two songs had me from the beginning and i`m still excited about them.

Last year Sink Or Swim came up with their demo and were extremly pushed by the scene around the Ruhrpott area, so expectations were very high. I have to admit that first i didn`t liked their demo so much, but was impressed by the energy they show on stage and the fact that they are not afraid to spread their message and to take a stand in politics and animal rights which sadly isn`t usual to a hardcore band nowadays.

The two songs on this split show how much Sink Or Swim were able to develop their sound in such a a short period of time since their demo last year. The songs became more diversified and the hard breakdowns that dominated their style before are more pointed now. Also the voice seems to be more confident which makes the lyrics more impressive and in sum they created a thrillng sound that keeps you in front of the record player.
I really like those two songs, especially the introducing part of y.a.i.m.s. made me an earworm for a couple of days.

So if you are in driving, powerful hardcore with lyrics that got something to say, this one is for you. Political and social awareness is something, that both bands have in common but musically they differ enough to keep this release divers.
This one is also the first release for Start A Fire Records from Bremen and you should also make sure to  keep your eyes open on things to come.
